Studies show that there is a correlation between art and other achievement. A report by Americans for the Arts states that young people who participate regularly in the arts (three hours a day on three days each week through one full year) are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate. EXPRESSIVE ART STUDIO FOR LITTLEST ONES ages 2–4 Every Monday, 2:45 pm–3:30pm
Little artists will have hands-on chances to draw, paint and collage. With an emphasis on individual exploration in color mixing, scribbles and marks, plus telling stories with shapes and colors, these stand-alone sessions are educational and wonderfully fun. Fee per session: $15
CLAY PLAY ages 4–6, Friday, 3:30–4:15 pm, ages 7-14, Friday, 4:30 am–5:15 pm
Clay is a wonderfully creative material! Kids have fun smashing, shmushing, coiling, pinching and creating imaginative sculptures and useful things. Fee per session: $20
WATERCOLOR STUDIO ages 4–6, Monday, 4:15–5:30 pm, ages 7-14, Monday, 5:30 am–6:15 pm
In this class we’ll create observational and expressive paintings in watercolor, while exploring the subject matter, styles and techniques that speak to our own interests. Fee per session: $15
CANVAS STUDIO ages 12-16, Tuesday, 4:15–5:30 pm
In this class we’ll create observational and expressive paintings in Oil and acrylic while exploring the subject matter, styles and techniques that speak to our own interests. Early projects will be inspired by Nature and abstract paintings. Fee per session: $20
SKETCHING ages 4–6, Wednesday, 4:15–5:30 pm, ages 7-14, Wednesday, 5:30 am–6:15 pm
In this class we’ll create observational and expressive sketching in watercolor, while exploring the subject matter, styles and techniques that speak to our own interests. Fee per session: $15
SKETCHING BETTER ages 12-16, Tuesday, 4:15–5:30 pm
This class provides age-appropriate drawing lessons on composition, line, shape, form and shading, while including lots of drawing from imagination, drawing games and exercises, and visits into the museum to look and draw. From the first to the last class, we see growth. Fee per session: $15
